Sen. John Ensign of Nevada dropped a bombshell on his press conference when he admitted for having an affair to Cynthia Hampton a.k.a. Cindy Hampton. Many were thinking and asking why Ensign did it in public. When the controversial affair went public, many people were interested to know more about Cynthia Hampton.

“Last year, I had an affair. I violated the vows of my marriage. It is the worst thing I have ever done in my life. If there was ever anything in my life that I could take back, this would be it. I take full responsibility for my actions.”

According to Sen. John Ensign of Nevada in his press conference he cheated on his wife with a former aide back in December 2007- August 2008 four months after both Cindy Hampton and husband Doug Hampton left Ensign’s staff.

Federal records of an associated press review show that Hampton, 46, received a pay raise of double her salary during the affair. The records show that Hampton was on the payroll of Ensign’s Battle Born Political Action Committee at $1,385.24 a month until she was appointed treasurer and her salary was doubled to $2,771.50 starting in February 2008. Hampton’s husband was also an employee in Ensign’s Senate office.
